Introducing the Ferrari 812 Competizione Tailor Made

Introducing the Ferrari 812 Competizione Tailor Made

At the heart of luxury, one often finds the capacity for personalization. Among automobiles, this statement has never been truer than with the unveiling of the new Ferrari sports car.

During the recent Monterey Car Week at the prestigious Casa Ferrari event, a surprise was unveiled and streamed live for enthusiasts worldwide: a unique Ferrari 812 Competizione that was truly a masterpiece in personalization.

Conceptualizing the 'Blank Sheet'

Every legendary piece of art begins with an idea, and for Ferrari, it starts with a blank sheet. This Tailor Made 812 Competizione encapsulates this very ethos. The blank sheet is more than a mere canvas; it’s where innovation meets passion. At the Ferrari Styling Centre, this sheet becomes a hotbed of ideas, fostering creativity, refining sketches, and eventually translating visions into groundbreaking designs.

A Year-long Collaboration - Styling Centre & Tailor Made Team

Bringing a unique vision to life demands time, patience, and most importantly, collaboration. For over a year, two of Ferrari’s most brilliant teams – the Ferrari Styling Centre and the Tailor Made division – merged their strengths. They delved deep, understanding the nuances, refining patterns, and ensuring that the car echoed the spirit of the iconic yellow cards, where Maranello designers pour their heart, soul, and skill into shaping the future of automotive design.

The Distinctive Design Details

The Ferrari Tailor Made 812 Competizione is not just a car; it's a canvas that celebrates the Italian automaker's design saga. Bathed in a matte yellow, dubbed Giallo Tristrato, and adorned with distinctive black markings, this yellow V-12 powered coupe tells a story - a story of the genius of Ferrari's Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni, and the relentless efforts of the Tailor Made customizing division.

Key design features include:

The Aero-blade: Slicing through the hood, it’s not just aesthetic but aids in aerodynamics.

Side Louvres: A nod to classic Ferrari designs.

Vortex Generators: Found on the rear, assisting downforce.

The interiors offer another journey – an Alcantara haven with embroidered sketches, all inspired by the genius of Flavio Manzoni, ensuring that the car's inside is as magnificent as its exterior.

Sustainable and Innovative Interiors

In a shift from tradition, the cockpit of this Ferrari 812 Competizione boasts a fabric cover made of 65% recycled polyester. Embroidered design sketches further accentuate its visual appeal. The black trilobal Superfabric used for the carpeting and the rear passenger compartment wall only adds to its luxury. An independent four-wheel steering system, designed to enhance the agility of the 830-horsepower V12 engine, is another feather in its cap.

Power and Performance

Beyond its aesthetic marvel, the 812 Competizione packs a punch. With an 819-hp, it’s a roaring tribute to Ferrari's non-hybrid V-12 lineage. This limited series—limited to 999 units to be precise—offers blistering acceleration, achieving 0 to 97 kph in a mere 2.8 seconds. Thanks to a spectrum of performance enhancements, from its aerodynamics to its braking capabilities, it promises not only to turn heads but also to deliver unparalleled driving experiences.

Furthermore, the unique four-wheel steering system ensures agility and precision, making every twist and turn a testament to its engineering marvel. And with just 999 pieces gracing the world, each with the Ferrari car price soaring over $600,000, this Tailor Made gem stands out in its exclusivity. And for the altruists among car enthusiasts, the cherry on top is the auction of this unique piece for charity.

The Auction

While one can't put a price on art, this Tailor Made masterpiece found its way to a charity auction at the Ferrari Gala in New York City on October 17. The proceedings are devoted to education support projects—a gesture that only adds to the car's profound legacy.

It’s a beacon for the future, not just for Ferrari but for what's possible in the realm of automotive design and luxury.
