Rolls-Royce Pays Tribute to Arabian Culture with Spirit of Calligraphy Ghost at Dubai Motor Show

One of the grand highlights at this year’s Dubai Motor Show that left an imprint in the memory of visitors is Rolls-Royce’s special, one-off commission, Spirit of Calligraphy Ghost.

Paying tribute to the rich Arabian culture and tradition, this extended wheel base model features the words of brand founder Sir Henry Royce in Arabian Calligraphy. The quote, “Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it”, is exquisitely shaped into the iconic flying mascot, the Spirit of Ecstacy. Making the artwork ultra-special is that it was hand-painted on the car’s fascia by renowned calligrapher Khalid Al Saaei.

The Ghost’s design is characterized by a sapphire black exterior with an arctic white coachline and 21″ painted wheels complemented with arctic white pinstripes and wheel centers. Included in the bespoke interior is Al Saaei’s Spirit of Ecstasy calligraphy motif both as an embroidery on the rear center seats featuring black, turchese and arctic white leather, finished with black lambswood carpets, as well as a silver inlay on the center panel.

According to Mamdouh Khairallah, general manager of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars AGMC, Khaled Al Saaei’s artwork captured the words that have established Rolls-Royce’s character for decades and contoured them into the marque’s afflatus. He also noted that only Rolls-Royce could take a distinct piece of art that encapsulates culture and tradition, and unveil it in a luxury car as distinctive and special as the piece of art itself.

The luxuriously stunning Ghost was meticulously handcrafted by experts at Rolls-Royce’s home in Goodwood, England and was conceptualized by the brilliant minds at AGMC, the sole dealer of the brand in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
