Mercedes has recently surprised its fans with the release of a teaser video of a new Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept car, which is rumored to be a convertible version of the 2016 Vision coupe.
The car, whose name was drawn from its near six-meter length, is considered as a statement of luxurious intent for the German automaker's ultra-high-end Maybach sub-brand. Promising a sensational luxury-class coupe experience, the power of the Maybach 6 originates from an electric 740bhp setup with a 200-mile range.
In case a production car arrives as a result of these concepts, it will likely contend with other premium luxury automakers, providing those interested in Bentley Continental GT and Rolls-Royce Wraith with further options.
Maybach was established in 1909 in Germany and, after acquisition, was used by Mercedes to unveil the high-end Maybach 57 and 62 large saloons. Their sales slumped after the 2008 financial crisis and though the Mercedes-Maybach S600 sees the Maybach name live on, it is more of a top-spec S-Class than a standalone model.
Mercedes is pinning high hopes on the next Vision concept to be another rung on the ladder of the Maybach's re-appearance as an exceptional brand. It is anticipated to launch at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later this month.
