Range Rover fans in the UAE have something big to look forward to as the British automaker's latest model, Velar, will reportedly be available in the country's showrooms from the second half of the year.
According to the manufacturer, Velar fills up the white space between the Range Rover and the Evoque. The new model is also said to preview the next generation of Range Rover vehicles, and it is built on Jaguar Land Rover's Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, which is now standard.
In a statement, Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer, Land Rover, said that Velar is now the captivating, standout design in the class, displaying perfectly optimized volume, powerful, taut surfaces and a stunning silhouette.
The new model will be offered in 2.0 and 3.0 liter versions in both 4- and 6-cylinder formats. The former cranks out 250hp and turns in 0-100 kmh lap in 6.7 seconds. Later in the year, a 300-hp version in a 4-cylinder setting will be launched. In addition, there is a 380-hp supercharged V6 petrol engine that can reach 100 kmh in 5.7 seconds.
Three specifications will be offered and there will be a sole version—the top-end First Edition—that will be made only during the first year.
The Elite Cars is one of the leading showrooms in Dubai to offer the Velar, which will reportedly be in November.
